FOR JASMINE CHOI’S FLUTE
From idea to implementation
JASMINE CHOI, THE INTERNATIONAL EXPERT
From the idea to the completion of the current version required serious investment and several prototypes. Many of the parts needed, such as the locks, hinges and other small parts, were developed and manufactured by hand at the KALB factory. The result is craftsmanship of exceptional quality.
SKILLED CRAFTSMANSHIP AND THE SPIRIT OF INNOVATION
Elmar Kalb unites these two values in his work like no other. He strives constantly not only to fulfil the requirements but to exceed them. Just an idea to begin with, a remarkable, unique piece is formed after countless hours of work. It is a perfect reflection of Jasmine Choi’s enthusiasm.

INGENIOUS USE OF MATERIALS
Each element is examined and designed in such a way that it saves weight and guarantees maximum stability. Elmar Kalb has worked hard to gain this knowledge over many years, and in doing so has accumulated a wealth of unique expertise. Even the small mechanical parts for the locks and hinges have been specially developed for the case.
GLOBAL NOVELTY FROM AUSTRIA EVOLUTIONISES THE WORLD OF MUSIC
Anyone with an eye for the aesthetic will immediately be drawn to this exquisite case. But what really makes it special is on the inside: a one-of-a-kind mechanism that has never existed quite like this before, proudly “Made in Austria”. When Jasmine places her precious flute into the case, she turns a little wheel that snugly fits the holding device to the flute millimetre by millimetre, until it fits the instrument’s length perfectly. The points with which the delicate instrument comes into contact are clad with soft foam and are by no means chosen at random, but are rather the result of careful observation on the part of the developer. When Jasmine takes her flute out again, the case helps her. The intelligent mechanism supports her, leaving space precisely where she needs it to remove the flute.
INDIVIDUAL DESIGN, SPECIAL TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS
Jasmine has always used a conventional instrument case for her flute. This case is quite unwieldy, since it is rather bulky and heavy. What is more, it is not adapted specifically to her flute, meaning that the flute may move around during transport. Since Jasmine is frequently on the move, it was her dream to obtain a perfect, individual case for her flute, one that would be shorter and lighter than those available on the market. With a properly fitting flute case, she would save herself the extra luggage and could take her flute with her in practically any bag – whether in her rucksack when travelling, on her way to rehearsals, or in her handbag to concerts.
After 12 months of development, Elmar Kalb came up with a solution that made Jasmine’s dream a reality. This required countless hours of work, a great deal of experience and considerable craft skills. She had waited her whole life for this.
THE PERFECT CASE FOR HER FLUTE:
- perfect size – individually adapted to the flute, not one millimetre larger than necessary (4 cm shorter than the previously used case).
- a lightweight – with the help of an ingenious combination of materials and experience, a weight of just 540 g was achieved (standard weight of a case: 850 g).
- perfect protection – no more jolting or jiggling. The interior of the case is individually adapted to the flute, meaning it is nestled perfectly in place and can no longer move about.
- emotional appearance – the design promises simple elegance and clearly stands out from other instrument cases. The feel of the case is an experience in and of itself, since its look gives away nothing about just how lightweight it is, and the perfect craftsmanship is evident to the touch.
